Prom
We are less than 6 weeks away from the GHS Prom. Prom is scheduled for Saturday March 11th. Grand March will begin at 8:00
Prom is an extracurricular activity open to students in grades 11 and 12. These students may ask a guest to join. The guest must be at least a freshman in high school and no older than 20 years old. All attending must meet eligibility standards as pertained in the extracurricular handbook. Students may bring out town guests but will have a background check and must meet eligibility standards as well. A few of these that need reminding each year include grades, attendance, controlled substances, and disciplinary referrals.
Any student failing more than one course will be declared ineligible to attend. Online classes are included in this, if a student is passing a class but is not on pace in that class, it would be counted as failing. Also, any students who have not earned enough credits to be on pace to graduate will not be able to attend.
Students must regularly attend classes to attend prom. Students participating in an event on Saturday will be required to be in attendance the Friday prior to the event. A student who must miss school on any activity day or the Friday before a Saturday event must clear the absence with the principal or athletic director before missing school to be certain of their eligibility for that particular contest. Typically, the only events excused are funerals and prearranged doctor's appointments. Please check ahead with Mr. Koehmstedt or Mr. Rice if you have an issue on March 10th. Tanning, nail appointments, make up appointments, picking up suits, tuxes, or dresses, and anything else of that nature will not be an excused absence, thus making you ineligible to attend.
Any student that has a violation pertaining to alcohol, tobacco, or other controlled substances between now and prom will not be allowed to attend.
Any student who faces disciplinary action may be subject to not attending prom.
We feel it is important to get this information out there and understood as we know many families budget for this event. Please if you have any questions please contact the school.

However, they have to print in early August thus our schedules tend to change. Today would be an example of that as we had to move the boys basketball game scheduled against Stephen Argyle to Monday, February 20th.
