Seven students in Susan Shuley’s Modern Business Technology classes at Grafton’s North Valley Career & Technology Center presented at the 2015 North Dakota Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference, and placed in the top three in their event categories, qualifying them for national competition, which will be held at the end of June in Chicago.

The 2015 State Leadership Conference was held in Fargo.

Jacob Niemann, Sam Novak and Brody Nelson placed first in the event Social Media Campaign; Cody Kingsbury, Charlie Thompson and Sam Novak second in the event Sports and Entertainment Marketing; and Paige Rudnik and Savannah Janikowski placed third in the Business Ethics event as well.

The National Conference is scheduled to be held in Chicago June 29 through July 2.

“This conference requires a tremendous time and financial commitment from the competitors who work for months to complete their projects and practice for their events and their photos,” advisor Susan Shuley said.

The students who qualified will be raising funds to make the trip possible. According to Shuley, the conference will cost attendees approximately $1,000 per person.
