For fans of Scranton, N.D. native Kat Perkins, a top 5 finisher on the sixth season of NBC’s ‘The Voice’ in 2014, the chance to hear the star—in person—will be possible this coming September at the Grafton Public Schools Performing Arts Center.

According to Grafton Public Schools superintendent Jack Maus, the Scranton native will be performing a concert on Monday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in the new auditorium, which is currently under construction as a part of the building project on the grounds south of the current Grafton High School.

The Sept. 28 concert will be a return trip for Perkins, who visited Grafton in October as a part of EduTech’s Positive Social Media tour.

Perkins said the return trip to Grafton is an exciting one.

“It came across my desk, and I was like ‘I absolutely want to go back,’” Perkins said. “It feels so reminiscent of where I grew up, on the west side of Scranton.”

Perkins has just started her second leg of the EduTech tour.

“We are so excited to keep going in 2015,” she said. “When we get there, we're going to have a bunch of new music for you guys.”

Perkins keeps in touch with her fans through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And the response she has received through the tour is all positive.

“It is great to hear I still have fans that want to hear what I do, so I can't wait to bring it back to you guys,” she said.

But it was the October trip to Grafton that left a mark on Perkins.

“They were super warm and inviting,” Perkins said of those who attended her Grafton visit. “Everyone was super excited I was coming to the town.”

She said she was impressed with the way the kids responded not only to her speaking, but to her visit in general.

“The kids were amazing listeners,” she said.

Tickets to the Kat Perkins concert will be $20 each and available at a later date to be announced. Maus encourages all community members to keep posted on updates as they become available through the Grafton Public School website (www.grafton.k12.nd.us).
